Brighton downbeat label Cookshop in upbeat shape-throwing shocker!
After a string of highly praised armchair orientated releases we’ve decided to put together a Taster EP of some of our more active studio moments. This 12’ features new exclusives from label founder and one-time Pork artist Lost Idol, co-founder La Femme, label regular Digital Midgets and new additions Pimpernel Jones & JFB (Hospital/One Eye).
Lost Idol leads the dancefloor assault with Green Dolphins; while the leaves might be fast disappearing from the trees and the evenings getting shorter by the minute this cheery hed-nodder of a track is bound to bring back a bit of summer glow to your cheeks with its jazzed-out chords and class trumpet blowing care of Quentin Collins (Basement Jaxx).
Next up is Digital Midgets showing off his Scruff-style antics with That People. Lively percussive disco business from the small chap.
On the flip La Femme ups the tempo with Never Complain; a serious roller of a tune with some nice double bass action and nifty drums to boot. It’s drum n’ bass Jim, but not as we know it.
Rounding off is new signings Pimpernel Jones & JFB. Two of Brighton’s premier B-Boys show off their production skills and impeccable turntable manners with Pompey Up, a heavy jazzed-up head-nodder of a track. Just watch for that tempo shift!
Taster 2 EP offers something for disco embassadors and living room lunatics alike.’
