An exclusive collection of sounds past, present and future from Cookshop, Brighton’s finest alternative downtempo record label, all mixed up to perfection by Cookshop artist Digital Midgets.

Since its inception in 2002, Cookshop has become a byword for quality downtempo electronic music for those in the know. Drawing inspiration from the doggedly independent attitudes of cult labels such as Pork and Mo Wax Cookshop has always strived to follow its own path regardless of fashions or formulas. In its five years, Cookshop has released music from its own creative collective including Digital Midgets, Jonathan Krisp, La Femme and Lost Idol as well as supporting new upcoming talent on its ever popular Taster EP series. Its also been honoured to host familiar names such as Hexstatic, Dr Rubberfunk and Hint who’ve all got involved with remixes for the label. More recently moving into album territory, Cookshop released the debut Lost Idol album to great critical acclaim and has just released the debut longplayer from electronic maverick Jonathan Krisp. If you feel starved of some decent alternative sounds of late, Cookshop just might be able to fill the gap.
