Debut album from Los Angeles producer Saru, also known as Spooky Monkey on previous Bastard Jazz releases. Originally released on now defunct NYC label Shadow Records in the very late 90s, this record got tons of critical acclaim and almost immediately went out of print. Brooklyn’s Bastard Jazz just snatched up the re-issue rights and passed it on. The sound is on some dark and chunky classic downtempo tip with twists of Japanese psychedelia, dub, golden age hip-hop, and post-shoegaze character rolled into a nice little package that should appeal to the headphone sect as well as fans of the whole Flying Lotus / Koushik / Nobody / etc sound.
