After a remarkable debut ep for Counterpoint Records and in anticipation of his first album, Ashley Thomas is back with four killer remixes of the most requested tracks from his first platter. First up is Bedford’s king of the beats, Dominic Stanton. One of the UK’s most prolific artist’s, Domu produces a wide spectrum of styles under a number of disguises (Umod, Zoltar, Bakura, etc.) and always delivers the good stuff. Fresh from his superb collaboration with Pete Simpson on Papa Records, Domu takes 'Kept On Runnin’ down the 4/4 route with a killer synth bassline and some cut up guitar licks for a serious space funk jam. Part Time Heroes are rapidly building a solid reputation for their classy blend of live instrumentation, deep jazz roots and organic soul nourishing goodness- just the kind of ingredients required to remix a bona fide classic! PTH give “Something’s…” a slow burning samba make over, with a sub bass riff and of-kilter percussion breaks. Horns, keys and vocal arrangements all fit seductively around the original melody.

Over on the flip, Ashley proves his remixes credentials as he takes the reigns and reshuffles his own baby- and what a monster it is!! Kickin off with a fat cowbell break and a slap bass riff, the track builds into an uptempo funk/ boogie jam. As the track progresses shades of Prince and Placebo are evident, before twisting into a 4/4 bridge, followed by some funked-up synth soloing. Expect to hear this on the more forward thinking dance floors real soon. Lastly, for those who have a preference for instrumentals, Domu returns to deliver a fine dub for this remix package. More than just an instrumental of the vocal remix, Domu reworks the track with an arrangement that stands out on it’s own right.
